Skopelos Island

Skopelos

Skopelos is the second island of the Northern Sporades, located after Skiathos and before Alonissos. It is the greenest island in Greece and is characterized by dense forests and very blue sea. It is a beautiful land, a small idyllic paradise, more than 67% of which is covered by virgin pine forest Crystal beaches of extraordinary beauty surround this island, the most important of which is Kastani, which became known from the film “Mamma Mia” and the beach of Stafylos, which is the beach closest to the town of Skopelos (only 4 km awat), Milia Beach, which for many is the best beach of the island, with lovely coast with pebbles and sand, a canteen, a beach bar and water sports rental available and Panormos, for those who prefer the comforts of a fully organised beach, combined with a truly beautiful coast.

Skopelos reserves its traditional character to a greater extent than the neighboring island of Skiathos, and is considered more serene, but at the same time very qualitative and delightful as a destination, with excellent tourist infrastructure and very remarkable lodgings, many of which are bungalow-type, such as villas for rent, not lacking however top choices of 5-star hotels
The town of Skopelos has been declared as a traditional settlement by Presidential Decree, mainly because of its architecture, which is the result of various architectural styles, giving majestic nature to the capital of the island.

The same for the many monasteries and chapels and especially the monasteries of Evangelistria, Metamorphosi Sotiros, Agios Ioannis the Baptist, Zoodochos Pigi, Aghios Taxiarchis in Vatos and Agia Varvara.
